Students studying Strategy for Tourism and Hospitality on the MSc International Tourism and Hospitality management course were welcomed to the National Tourism Organisation, VisitScotland, on Monday 5 November.
The student group were hosted at the Edinburgh Head office to discuss national tourism strategy in action.
Andrew Martin, Director of the Scottish Centre of Tourism and the organiser of the trip commented:
“It’s great to get the students out to meet with those running our national agency. We’re very fortunate to have such a close relationship with VisitScotland”.
“The field study was challenging for both students and our hosts, when we considered how Scotland competes as a premier tourism product in the world market”.
The student group spent the afternoon on the seventh floor of the offices at the Ocean Point in Edinburgh.
The group met with Riddell Graham, Director of Partnerships, who presented on the current strategy at VisitScotland, and the unique partnership with Disney Pixar in the promotion of Scotland through marketing activity linked to the film “Brave”.
Other contributors to the afternoon session were Pauline Yovchev-Monchy, International Marketing Manager, who led a seminar on VisitScotland's international marketing activity and finally Alasdair Maclauchlan who led a session on Quality Assurance in VisitScotland.
