Aberdeen artists launch month-long creative event and pop-up gallery in city centre

A collective of students, artists and academics from Robert Gordon University’s Gray’s School of Art will launch a month-long creative event this Friday 23 November to promote and foster local artistic talent.

‘Offset57’ will take over two shop spaces at The Academy Shopping Centre to host a series of creative events, workshops and exhibition, and a pop-up gallery and shop.

Influential designers and artist collectives including Fred Deakin, founder of critically acclaimed electronic music duo Lemon Jelly and BAFTA award-winning graphic arts company Airside, will visit the city to speak and curate events aimed at inspiring the next generation of artistic talent in Aberdeen.

The launch night, this Friday 23 November from 7pm, will include interactive illustration projects, an exhibition by former Gray’s student collective ‘WLDWLVS’ and DJ Jon Reid providing music and visuals. The event will also include live workshops, interactive projects, exhibitions and a creative swap event.

A pop-up shop offering the chance to buy jewellery, prints, illustrations, cards, bags, zines and textiles by students and upcoming designers and artists will be open from Wednesdays-Sundays throughout the event.
