Advanced Contemporary District Nursing

1. Overview

The aim of the module is to enable practitioners to critically explore the theories, principles and concepts which underpin improving health and wellbeing.

This module is part of the MSc Advancing Nursing Practice (District Nursing) route but can also be undertaken as a stand-alone module.

2. What you will study

  • Principles and concepts of public health.
  • Poverty, inequalities, vulnerability and social exclusion.
  • Public health approaches to health needs assessment.
  • Strategies and approaches to healthcare needs of populations.

3. How you will learn

This module is delivered online and is supported by well sourced and relevant web-based sites and recommended reading.

You will be encouraged to become involved in several activities, including reflection, problem based scenarios, discussion forums, and online tutorials (synchronous and a-synchronous).

4. Entry Requirements

This module is suitable for registered nurses, health and social care professionals and other individuals who work with families, groups and individuals within communities.

Normally, applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate degree level study; however, if this is not the case, interested individuals are encouraged to make contact and discuss their circumstances.

Course fees are reviewed periodically and so are subject to change for new applicants. All tuition fees are fixed for the duration of a course at the rate confirmed in your offer letter. You will also be liable to pay a graduation fee of £40 before receiving a University award.
