This event is intended for academic and industry professionals of energy sector working in the area of operations and maintenance. As operation and maintenance encompasses the lifetime of assets and can incur significant costs, it is critical that good and smart practices are shared with stakeholders.
The energy sector uses a number of machinery before, during, and after the power generation process. Several strategies are used during the lifetime of assets to ensure high availability of machines that includes the use of many inspection and monitoring techniques for the early detection of failures and faults. It also requires skilled manpower and data processing tools and software to analyse and generate information about the status of machine components.
Professionals use the working knowledge and experience gained during work and the fundamental background knowledge to develop novel solutions and applications, however, sharing of such practices and the knowledge gained from such experiences are critical for controlling the lifetime cost of assets spread across the energy sector and are much required. This is especially critical for upcoming cost-intensive technologies such as offshore wind turbines, where operations and maintenance costs are appreciable and need to be controlled.
The use of novel sensors, improvements made in data processing methods, strategies for analysing condition monitoring data, use of analytic techniques for generating information from monitoring data, smart physical inspection methods and development of assistive tools and software all come under such a development.
