Duties and Responsibilities
Andrew Turnbull is a senior lecturer in Communication, Marketing and Media. He is also an undergraduate/postgraduate module coordinator.
Areas of Expertise:
- Food retail
Other areas of expertise include marketing communications techniques, such as advertising, PR, direct marketing and sponsorship, and the use of all forms of media, including TV, radio and press.
Formerly MBA Programme Director, MSc IMM Course Leader, Head of Marketing Department (all ABS) also Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies on its foundation in 1995.
'Andrew joined ABS/RGU in 1994 after 16 years in industry, with experience gained in various FMCG organisations, including Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Ltd and George Morton & Co. Ltd. Latterly he headed up the Marketing Department at Wm Low (Supermarkets) plc. In early 2012, Andrew was appointed Managing Secretary of the Edzell Golf Club. He fulfilled that role until mid 2015 and whilst he continued to teach part time in the interim, he has since taken on additional responsibilities.'
Andrew's research interests lie principally in the areas of:
- Tourism marketing, including place branding
- Marketing and Entrepreneurship education
- Retail Marketing including, the Role of Image in attracting shoppers to specific retail destinations; Clicks and Mortar approaches to contemporary retail provision; Retail communications.
