Key Duties and Responsibilities
As learning enhancement coordinator Fiona takes a lead role in work to enhance the student experience across the School of Health Sciences. She has a keen interest in learning and teaching which links to this role.
Fiona is the link person into the Faculty Practice Learning group which provides a strategic and organisational lead for the Practice Learning Environment within the Faculty. She is also involved in the Interprofessional Education Aberdeen steering group.
Fiona qualified in 1993 with a BSc Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University. After staff grade posts she specialised in respiratory care and undertook senior posts in acute paediatric respiratory care covering paediatric and neonatal intensive care at the Leeds General Infirmary and then Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Fiona worked in education briefly at Sheffield Hallam University before moving back to a respiratory team leaders post in Scotland. She has been at The Robert Gordon University since April 2005. Fiona's research interests are in acute respiratory care, particularly the instillation of saline prior to endotracheal suctioning and physiotherapy management of surgical patients. In addition she has a focus on the use of simulation to enhance the student learning experience in allied health professions.
