Duties and Responsibilities
Professor David Gray is a Professor of Transport Policy at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen
His three main areas of research expertise are transport in remote, rural and island communities; transport, energy and climate change; and transport policy in Scotland.
Professor Gray leads RGUs involvement in the Offshore Renewables Institute (ORI), collaboration between the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee and RGU.
External / Professional Roles
Professor Gray is a Board member of the Highlands and Islands Regional Transport Partnership. He was an expert advisor during the preparation of Scotland’s National Transport Strategy and has acted as an adviser in the preparation of Scotland’s Strategic Transport Projects Review and to a number of bodies including the UK Commission for Integrated Transport and Defra.
He also advised the Scottish Government’s Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee and the Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee during their scrutiny of the Scottish Government’s Draft Budget.
Professor Gray is currently PI and project coordinator for RiCORE (Horizon 2020) which is looking at the wider adoption of a risk based approach to environmental impact and the consenting of offshore renewable arrays. He is also leading on RGU’s involvement in SPARA 2020 (Sustainable Peripheral and Remote Airports), funded by the Northern Periphery & Arctic Programme ; and in the PaTRA ( Passenger Transport in Rural Areas) consortium.
