Duties and Responsibilities
Denise is primarily responsible for and teaches on Master level modules. She teaches on both the MSc Human Resource Management and MSc Health, Safety and Risk programmes. Specifically she is responsible for Employee Relations and teaches on Resourcing and Talent Management within the MSc Human Resource Management programme and is responsible for both People Management and Behavioural Management within the MSc Health Safety and Risk programme.
Denise joined the University in July 2013 after 20 years within the private sector as an HR practitioner where extensive experience was gained at both a senior strategic HRM level and at an operational ‘hands on’ level in both a UK and international HR environment.
Denise is primarily an HR Generalist although she is also an experienced and previously accredited Investors in People Advisor working with organisations in either an advisory capacity or as the ‘in house’ practitioner. She is also a corporate management trainer.
For 13 years prior to joining the university Denise worked as an independent HR consultant with her own management consultancy business offering HR and I.I.P. support cross a wide range of industry sectors including oil and gas, manufacturing, retail, landed estates and food. Support was provided on a long term or short term interim or project basis to companies ranging in size from those in the SME market to global companies.
Denise has an MSc in Human Resource Management, a post graduate diploma in marketing and a B.A in Business management.
Denise is interested in HRM and employment law implications of HRM practices especially in relation to unconscious bias, organisational justice and discrimination.
