Duties and Responsibilities

Erica Cargill is Academic Strategic Lead for the Department of Management at Aberdeen Business School. The Department is responsible for the delivery of a suite of five undergraduate courses, two post graduate courses and our two flagship MBA courses. We are also developing a new Graduate Level Apprenticeship offer for commencement in September 2018. Our suite of courses run in full time, part-time, blended and distance learning delivery modes.

Erica’s main teaching and research interests are in the areas of Learning and Development, especially Work-Based and Work-Related education together with early career professional development.

Academic Background

Erica has an LLB (Hons) from Aberdeen University and an MSc HRM (with distinction) from Aberdeen Business School. She is currently working on a DBA thesis (2013-2018) which considers the impact of e-portfolio assessment on work-based learners. 

Research Interests

Erica is currently working on a DBA Thesis (2013-2018) which considers the impact of e-portfolio assessment on work related learners. She is also developing research avenues in personal reflection, the use of metaphors in education and early career non-technical skills development.

Funding

2011 - Maximising the Impact of Skills in the Oil and Gas Industry – Knowledge Transfer Project. Funding received from Scottish Funding Council.

2010 - $25,000 project funded by IAEER: Searching for Good Practice in the Development and Assessment of Non-Technical Skills.

2009 - Accountancy Graduates; a Global Study. £6000 project funded by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland: Development of Relevant Non-Technical Skills in ICAS Trainees.
