Unique opportunity to work for international clothing company
Laura Turner has been studying Textiles and Surface Design, concentrating on soft furnishings, crockery, upholstery and wallpaper prints.
Laura was given the unique opportunity to work for international clothing company FALKE, in Germany, after being placed second in the prestigious European Fashion Awards (FASH 2008). The ambitious student also applied for a NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) grant to set up her own business earlier this year.
Laura hand draws her designs and then transfers them onto transparent paper, to print individual motifs inspired by Indian culture. She has tried to mix exotic and traditional patterns to create something that is commercially viable.
She said: "During my studies at Gray's I have had access to excellent printing facilities. The sense of openness at the School and the freedom of expression has really encouraged me to develop my textiles and design work."
