Informatics Institute of Technology

Sri Lanka’s first Big Data Analytics MSc postgraduate degree programme is delivered by Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) in collaboration with Robert Gordon University.  A new MSc in Business Analytics is in the process of being validated.

With the growth of the IT industry in the South Asian region and in Sri Lanka, the need for postgraduate programmes is on the rise and the partnership will enable IIT and RGU to pioneer the Business Analytics offering in the region.

The partnership provides RGU’s School of Computing Science and Digital Media with valuable program validation experience in the Sri Lankan market with the opportunity to develop by expanding to further computing courses at IIT.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS)

Robert Gordon University (RGU) is the first university in Scotland to confirm the structure and content of its new work-based learning degrees.

The university has approved the delivery of its two Graduate Level Apprenticeships (GLAs), which it has established with funding from Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to address the national digital skills shortage.

Following a validation process, the university has delivered a detailed overview of the GLAs, which are confirmed as a BSc (Hons) IT Management for Business and a BSc (Hons) Software Development for Business.

The GLAs enable participants to earn their degree while working and will be delivered in partnership with their employers over the course of four years with learners completing four modules per year, each worth 30 credits per stage.

RGU’s School of Computing Science and Digital Media will match learning outcomes with specific skills requirements and practical experience, linking with workplace projects and supported through RGU’s state-of-the-art virtual learning environment.

DNV GL

Robert Gordon University (RGU) and multinational provider of risk management and sustainability services, DNV GL, have joined forces on a project which aims to deliver cost savings to the oil and gas industry.

The project, ‘Digitization Platform for Processing, Detecting and Classifying Symbols in Engineering Drawings’, is being funded by The Data Lab Innovation Centre, supported by DNV GL, and delivered by a team of researchers from RGU’s School of Computing Science and Digital Media.
