Alumni groups are set up by alumni of Robert Gordon University for people with similar interests or within the same geographical location. They are generally run by alumni committees and the agenda, structure and formality differ from group to group.

Alumni groups are a great way of keeping in touch with your former classmates and meeting new people as well as maintaining your links with the University and current students. It also provides an avenue for you be actively involved with the University in a voluntary capacity.

Current groups

There are currently a number of 'special interest' and international alumni groups up and running.

West African Alumni Association

The association offers alumni living in or from West Africa a great way to stay in touch with former classmates, the opportunity to meet new people and expand your networks, a means of maintaining your links with the University, and the chance to get involved with various University projects.

The first West African Alumni Association meeting was held on 21st September 2009. After a chance to catch up with fellow alumni the steering committee was elected. They are responsible for attracting new members and arranging social events amongst other things.

Indian Alumni Network

The Indian Alumni Network allows Indian graduates to stay connected with each other, the University and its students, and provides alumni with social and networking opportunities.

MBA Alumni Community

The MBA Alumni Community provides our MBA alumni with an exclusive online portal to access:

  • Fellow alumni including online discussion fora and the promotion of business opportunities

Malaysian Alumni Association

RGU has over 1,000 alumni in Malaysia and the RGU:MAA was established in 2003.

It offers alumni in Malaysia a powerful network that connects them to the University and each other and supports alumni in their future development.

Home Economics Former Students Association

The School of Home Economics Former Students Association is a well established alumni group with around 250 enthusiastic members.

A committee leads the group and ensures the smooth running of the Association. Meetings are held on a regular basis and members enjoy a wide range of visits and social outings, including the Annual General Meeting and Luncheon held every May in Aberdeen.

The Chinese Alumni Association

The first RGU Chinese Alumni Association meeting was held in Shanghai on 10th June 2006.

Twenty-six alumni attended the meeting along with RGU representatives; Bryan McNay, Lecturer, Aberdeen Business School, Josephine Goh, Senior International Officer and Elizabeth Tomchak, English Language Tutor.

The aim of the Association is to keep Robert Gordon University Chinese Alumni connected with the University and to support our Chinese alumni in their future development.
