We also have a small pool of enabling technologies available for loan to students. This resource is primarily for students who are ineligible for Disabled Students' Allowance, or in exceptional circumstances. The equipment available for loan includes laptops, recording, amplification and magnification equipment and adapted keyboards.

The University's computer network supports the following software packages which can be particularly useful for students with dyslexia or visual impairments.

Read and Write Gold Edition: a support tool offering speech feedback, spell checking and word prediction for most Windows programmes, for example, word processing spreadsheets and web pages, integrated scanning, and a talking dictionary. TextHelps' Read & Write Gold provides many tools to help access and compose written material.

MindManager: A visual mapping, planning and brain storming tool that both powerful and easy to use

ZoomText: An advanced visual enhancement and magnification tool

If you require specific software to support your studies, please contact the Enabling Technology Adviser on 01224 262103 or email disability@rgu.ac.uk.
