The Garthdee campus, in a peaceful riverside setting, started life as home to Gray's School of Art and the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture & Built Environment. In 1998, its development began with the building of Aberdeen Business School (then known as the Faculty of Management), designed by renowned architect Norman Foster.
The campus continued to grow with the addition of the Faculty of Health & Social Care in 2002 (home to the Schools of Health Sciences, Nursing & Midwifery and Applied Social Studies) and the £11million sports centre, RGU:SPORT, in 2005. Many of the University's administrative departments have been rehomed at Garthdee and other support facilities are also there, including a nursery and medical practice.
From September 2013, all teaching will be centred at Garthdee.
The University is committed to the development of the campus through its Masterplan, with ambitious plans for future growth.

The Clinical Skills Centre is just one of the many practical learning areas within the Faculty of Health and Social Care. It aims to promote the development of clinical skills through fostering learning, educational innovation, collaboration and research to achieve the highest possible standard of care for patients and clients.
Robert Gordon University has invested over £11 million in a state-of-the-art sports facility, which sees a dramatic improvement in sporting infrastructure available for the region and also acts as a social hub for the Garthdee campus. The facility features a 25m swimming pool, three gyms, climbing wall and bouldering room, cafe bar, three exercise studios and a vast sports hall.
The Garthdee Medical Group is located within the Health Centre. It is extremely important that all students register with a doctor (GP) as soon as they arrive in Aberdeen to ensure they are covered in case of an emergency.
