Welcome to the DELTA web pages

We hope you will find the Department's services and online resources helpful.

Our web resources are located within the University's CampusMoodle virtual learning environment, linked from this external-facing homepage. Purpose & Focus

Our purpose is to promote and support enhancement of learning, teaching and assessment across the University.

Our focus is on student learning including:
  • all forms of delivery and engagement, on-campus and off-campus
  • e-learning and associated technologies

Concept of Enhancement

Our view of the concept of "enhancement" is:

  • making it better -any aspect of learning the student experience
  • making the best use of opportunities and resources

Our approach is client-centred, supporting:

  • staff of the University who teach and support students
  • students who use the University's e-learning environment, and our study support services

Priorities & Activities

Our priorities and activities are aligned to:

  • the University strategy "A Clear Future: Building on Success", and priorities identified through annual planning processes
  • the organisation structure of the University, connecting with faculties, schools, other support service departments, committees and the Student Union
  • quality policy and processes for approvals, appraisal and review

Services

We provide support and services for staff across the following broad areas:

  • strategy and policy for enhancement
  • quality policy and processes for approvals, appraisal and review
  • course, curriculum and learning design
  • face-to-face / classroom learning
  • e-learning / online learning
  • assessment and feedback
  • widening participation, equity, diversity and internationalisation

We coordinate staff professional development in learning and teaching

We provide support and services for students in study skills and access transitions

We look both inwards and outwards, aiming to support:

  • identification and sharing of effective practice within the University
  • staff and students engaging with external ideas and resources
