Merit-based progression

At RGU, it’s important that we nurture talent and provide opportunities for development and progression. In fact, it’s one of the ways we enable our people to make the university’s strategy a reality.

There are many excellent examples from our academic community where staff have been empowered to progress their knowledge, skills, ideas and careers to great success.

A message from HR and How to apply

In the first two years, we received 41 applications for Senior Lecturer (A) with many more conversations taking place between Academic Strategic Leads and staff.

Encouragingly, 13 applicants have been successful with many more advised to reapply in future. You will see through this campaign that they come from across the Schools, and I am pleased that we have this opportunity to share their achievements with the wider university. Our aim is to build on the success of the initiative year on year and bring you more examples of staff who have had their exceptional performance recognised.

The window for applications will open in March and if you are a grade eight academic and interested in progressing, then I would encourage you to explore it with your line manager. The HR team is on hand to offer advice and you may also find it helpful to speak to your colleagues who have already taken that step forward on their career path and are now a Senior Lecturer (A).
