Mental Health Solutions

More so than ever before, supporting your colleagues’ mental wellbeing, as much as their physical health, has become a focus of contemporary business.

A rise in the importance of companies proactively seeking to protect and prevent colleagues experiencing stress, anxiety or depression has lead to RGU: Wellness developing a suite of support services in the area of Mental Health Solutions.

Mental Health Solutions @ RGU: Wellness can provide a comprehensive range of brief, evidence-based interventions designed to deliver a prompt and accessible service to organisations, enabling you to manage mental health issues in an affordable and effective manner.

We can work with you pro-actively to reduce or manage work-place stress, or we can work with you responsively, providing a service to ensure that your staff gets rapid access to treatment for a range of conditions, reducing time lost to your organisation.

All of the RGU:Wellness Mental Health Solutions can be delivered on your premises or in our decided Mental Health Clinic, part of the RGU: Wellness facilities at our Garthdee campus.

Mindfulness Based Stress Management teaches participants to focus their attention on the present moment; to concentre on what is happening now, as opposed to thoughts of future or past events.

Mindfulness training has been shown to significantly reduce stress anxiety, and distraction and increase attention to task, meaning your staff achieve more, and to a higher standard. We offer a range of Mindfulness Based Stress Management programmes tailored to the specific needs of your company.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Solution Focused Brief Therapy is an effective intervention for a wide range of psychological conditions including stress, anxiety and depression.

Sessions typically focus on the client’s existing strengths and assets (rather than problems and deficits), and therapy aims to establish how the client will know when they have recovered. Detailed planning then works towards achieving the client’s goals in a step-wise fashion.

Successful outcomes are reported in between 70% to 80% of cases, and these are typically achieved in half the time taken by other ‘brief’ therapeutic approaches, such as CBT or brief- counselling.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is a collective term for a group of therapeutic approaches which focus on helping clients identify their dysfunctional thinking and maladaptive behaviours.

Sessions will typically focus on a detailed description of the problem, exploring the client’s beliefs about the problem situation and the anticipated consequences of engaging in problematic activities. Therapy will seek to test the client’s assumptions, and practice more functional or adaptive ways of behaving and thinking.

Successful outcomes are reported in between 70% to 80% of cases.

Person-Centred Counselling

Person-Centred Counselling is a longer-term therapeutic approach in which, through discussion with the therapist, the client is enabled to explore their sense of self and how that sense is influenced by people and events around them.

This approach, unlike Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, aims to help the client understand themselves as a person, as opposed to helping the client simply bring about positive change.
