Winning mooter proves she’s a first class legal eagleWednesday, 18 July, 2012
Winner of the 2011 Granite City Moot, Kirsty MacCallum (22), from the Black Isle, closes the case, graduating with a First Class Law LLB (Hons) from Robert Gordon University's (RGU) Aberdeen Business School on Wednesday 11 July.
The successful legal student has represented RGU in various law competitions including the Phillip C Jessup International Mooting competition 2011 held in London, the Granite City Moot 2011 which she won against Aberdeen University and the prestigious Sir Alexander Stone moot court, the preliminary round was hosted by Robert Gordon University where she triumphed against the University of Edinburgh and proceeded to the semi-finals (Both the Alexander Stone and Granite City were judged by members of the judiciary).
As part of her degree, Kirtsy completed an 18 week placement with the Highlands and Island Social Enterprise Zone and continued with them undertaking graduate level work whilst still a student.
Kirsty said: "I was attracted to RGU because of the placement opportunity and its mooting facilities which I made full use of. University has been a great experience and through the mooting competitions I've gained so much in confidence. I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life and making a good career for myself."
