The Law School at Robert Gordon University (RGU) is co-hosting a Master Class in Negotiation and Conflict Management with leading mediation business Core Solutions Group.
The event marks the introduction of a Post Graduate Certificate in Mediation - an increasingly sought after skill among lawyers, employers and other professionals - at the Law School.
The one-day master class will feature a number of tools, techniques and tips for managing, preventing and resolving difficult situations more effectively – and for enhancing a culture of cooperation. It takes place on Friday November 29 at RGU's new Riverside East campus.
With years of experience in mediation and in some of the toughest negotiations, as well as training and coaching hundreds of high-level professionals in business, sport, finance, the law and government, the day will be led by Scotland's leading business mediator and founder of Core Solutions, John Sturrock QC, along with Core's senior mediators and coaches, Pamela Lyall, Hugh Donald and Charlie Woods.
John has been described as "one of the best teachers of mediation" and is an internationally recognised coach and facilitator in the fields of negotiation, mediation and communication who has worked with senior executives, judges, top athletes and parliamentarians.
He said: "We are delighted to be working in collaboration with RGU at a time when this Post Graduate course is being launched.
"There is no doubt that how we manage our difficulties plays a major part in our business – and personal – success, and mediation offers a set of key skills for achieving more effective and satisfactory outcomes."
The interactive event, which will kick off with a networking breakfast at 8.15am, will run to 4pm and will include small group sessions on the following topics; dealing with challenging emotional situations; working collaboratively with teams; getting past impasse and deadlock; managing risk and decision traps; effective preparation strategies.
