RGU offers one-day dispute resolution course

Robert Gordon University (RGU) is offering a one-day course entitled ‘Introduction to Arbitration, Adjudication and Mediation’ on Friday 3 February, aimed at providing delegates with a basic understanding of these three dispute resolution processes.

The one-day course, which will be held at RGU’s Aberdeen Business School, Garthdee is aimed at lawyers, surveyors, architects, civil engineers, accountants and anyone with an interest in dispute resolution.

Successful completion of the course will allow delegates to apply for Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB) and proceed to register for Modules 1 and 2 leading to Member Grade of the CIARB. 

All applicants must either have a bachelor’s degree or extensive professional work experience.

Derek Auchie, Senior Lecturer in Law at RGU, said: “The short course is ideal for those already in the legal profession or with an interest in dispute resolution. Not only will completion of the course open the doors for Associate Membership of the CIARB but it will make delegates more attractive to their employer and to potential clients and may lead to dispute resolution work after further training”.
