RGU is a top Scottish university for student support

Robert Gordon University (RGU) continues to build on its student experience offering with the latest top rankings which recognise the university for its support and academic practice.

Ferdinand von Prondzynski 325x400The university has performed well in a number of categories in the 2017 Times Higher Education (THE) UK Student Experience Survey, which recognises the best universities in the UK for student experience, as decided by current students.

RGU was ranked top in Scotland for providing support to students and caring for their welfare, catering for personal requirements, its helpful staff and its good relationship between lecturers and students.

The university also performed well in the UK rankings, securing a top 10 position for industry connections; helpful staff; high quality lecturers; well-structured courses; catering for personal requirements; and good sports facilities.

Now in its 12th year, the THE Student Experience Survey is unique in that it looks beyond the usual definition of the student experience to a broader meaning created by students themselves which includes those aspects of university life that matter most to them.

Universities are given points for separate attributes which are categorised within: academic experience; university facilities; societal experience; student welfare; accommodation; industry connections; and security. Overall RGU was ranked 41st in the UK and 6th in Scotland in the 2017 survey.

RGU’s Principal, Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, said: “Looking after our students is a key priority for RGU, so I am pleased to see we have been recognised as the top university in Scotland for the support we provide, both academically and personally.

“The university has also performed particularly well within the academic experience category of this year’s survey, which demonstrates that our staff show strong dedication in developing and delivering a high quality educational agenda and student experience offering.”

RGU offers a number of academic and non-academic support services including study skills, careers, disability and dyslexia, student counselling, student advice and accommodation.
