Gray's students "imagine Alloa"
Thursday, 18 March, 2010Students of Sculpture at Gray's School of Art have been "imagining Alloa".
On 25 March 17 Sculpture students will present to Clackmannanshire council in Alloa their vision and proposals for the "Imagine Alloa" project.
The aim of "Imagine Alloa" is to build on foundations that currently exist, with local, national and international artists to develop sustainable partnerships across many sectors. This includes arts, business, economics, health, tourism and a range of council services.
The project has been granted £2 million to spend on physical improvements in the town centre, including shop front improvements, open artists' studios, new pavements, street furniture and public art.
Following a number of visits to the town, an exhibition takes place in Alloa in April which will include 135 students from all the Scottish Art Colleges as well as from the Royal College of Art in London. This is the first time that all the Scottish Art Colleges have collaborated in such a project.
"Imagine Alloa" is supported by:
- Scottish Government's Town Centre Regeneration Fund
- Fairer Scotland
- Clackmannanshire Alliance
- Clackmannanshire's Business Improvement District
- Clackmannanshire Council
