Adam Twatt (27) from Rendall, Orkney Islands, graduated with an MSc Construction Project Management from Robert Gordon University’s Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment (SSS) on Friday 9 December.
Adam, who now lives in Aberdeen, initially graduated from SSS last year with a BSc (Hons) in Construction Design & Management and decided to embark on the Masters course to advance his qualifications and increase employability. The ambitious graduate has now been accepted to Wood Group PSN’s Graduate Scheme in Project Controls.
A member of the university football club since 2007, Adam became President in 2010 and won the Granite City Challenge in his last game for the team – against fierce rivals, the University of Aberdeen.
He comments: “Leaving Orkney really broadened my horizons and I threw myself into university life. Adapting to life in Aberdeen after three years in full-time employment was difficult, and I found the financial aspects especially challenging. Thankfully, I had very understanding parents!
“The graduate scheme at Wood Group PSN will give me vital experience as a Project Engineer and through hard work I hope to gain promotion and expand my knowledge base. In the future, I’d love to work abroad and get involved in exciting projects in the oil and gas industry.”
Sadly, Adam’s parents could not make the graduation ceremony due to the high winds which meant flights from Kirkwall on 8 December were cancelled. Fortunately, his girlfriend Lisa and her mum Gillian were on hand to stand in as surrogate family members.
