What Do You Think About Union Terrace Gardens?

A team of researchers from The Robert Gordon University are working on a project in partnership with Aberdeen City Council which aims to improve knowledge about what businesses, residents and visitors require from public areas in Aberdeen.

The research is collating information on public opinion about Union Terrace Gardens, and is looking for ideas about how the space might best be used in the future.

Tony Craig, one of the researchers on the project said, "At the moment we are looking to gather as many ideas as possible about how Union Terrace Gardens could be used. Such ideas might involve small changes, or might be massive infrastructure projects. We are looking for opinions about how the area is used at present, and also how the area might be better used in future so that the people of Aberdeen can have a genuine creative input into the planning of their city centre."

The project is being supported by the City Growth Fund, which is administered by Aberdeen City Council and represents a £22.25 million investment over 5 years by the Scottish Executive in the future of Aberdeen.

The fund was created to implement the recommendations of the Building Better Cities review conducted by the Scottish Executive, which identified the economic, social and cultural importance of Scotland's main cities to national life.
