Best friends of 17 years graduate togetherWednesday, 18 July, 2012
Best friends since primary one, Jessica Anderson (22) and Heather Watt (21) from Fraserburgh, graduated together with a BA Hons in Accounting and Finance on Tuesday 10 July at 2.30pm, from Robert Gordon University's (RGU) Aberdeen Business School.
The pair have been inseparable for over 17 years, having attended the same primary and secondary school, in the same class and together completing the same degree at RGU. The life long friends have provided much support to each other as they tackled new challenges and made new friends along the way. Their brothers also graduated on the same day from RGU with Masters in Engineering degrees in 2008.
Jessica said: "We've always been best friends and when we both successfully achieved places at RGU, were over the moon to be moving on to another exciting stage in our lives together. After four years studying our friendship is stronger than ever having both gained a degree, graduate jobs and made lots of new friends."
Heather continued: "We both really liked accounts as a subject at school and were attracted to RGU as it offered a placement year. We completed our placements at different companies but were reunited to tackle our challenging final year."
The best friends will now follow their own career paths after both securing jobs. Prior to graduating, Jessica secured a Chartered Accountant traineeship at Simpson Forsyth and Heather has been offered a place on Woodgroup PSN graduate scheme, following on from her successful placement with the company.
Jessica concluded: "We are so happy to have accomplished such huge milestones and achievements together and even though we are starting a new stage in our lives independently, we will continue to enjoy each others successes and carry on being there for each other."
