Participating schools submit pupil designs for a unique Aberdeen Youth Games medal.

Pupils base their ideas on the themes of sport, participation, Aberdeen and health. The competition is held by Gray's School of Art, and the finalised design is digitised, laser cut and engraved to produce wooden medals with help from staff at MAKE Aberdeen and Gray’s School of Art.

The winner of the 2017 medal design competition was P5/6 Kaimhill School pupil Marta Stachowska.
