Maths Stats and Numeracy Support

On campus assistance is provided to all students. The level of service differs between Undergraduates and Postgraduates.

Undergraduate support

We offer free, one-to-one, small group and workshop tuition for any maths, statistics or numeracy problems. We can provide help with some Mathcad, Authentic World, SPSS, minitab and vba for Excel.

Assistance is available at both campuses:

  • City Centre - Meeting room 3, the Studentzone, St Andrew Street library.
  • Garthdee - Room H331, Health and Social Care building

To make a one hour appointment (normally Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) phone 01224 263089 or email studyskills@rgu.ac.uk.

In addition you'll find links to national resources for maths (Mathcentre, HELM - Helping Engineers Learn Maths) and statistics support (STARS - Creation of Statistical Resources from Real Datasets) on the maths and stats area of the Study Skills Open Study area on Campus Moodle.

There is also a numeracy skills area that includes medicine dosage calculations resources for nursing students.

Postgraduate support

Please note postgraduate support consists of basic statistics support to dyslexic and/or dyscalculic students who have a referral from the Disability and Dyslexia Service or postgraduates at Masters level.

Statistics support for staff and PhD students may be available if your School (Pharmacy & Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Nursing & Midwifery, Aberdeen Business School, Engineering) has a contract with the School of Computing. Contact Ann Gardner on 01224 262700 or email a.gardner@rgu.ac.uk for further details.

Open Study Areas in CampusMoodle

The Study Skills and Access Unit also has a range of on-line study support materials on CampusMoodle.
