Midwives Facilitating Learning SCQF level 9; SCQF points 15; ECTS points 7.5
This course will ensure that midwives are competent in facilitating learning and mentoring in practice. Undertaking this module will enable the midwife to plan and deliver parenthood sessions as well as mentor students in the clinical area.
This module will be delivered by enquiry based learning supported with tutorials and lectures. Coursework will be assessed by delivering a teaching session for clinicians or parents, which will be accompanied by a report.

Course Content - Parenthood education; communication skills; interpersonal relationships; learner support; teaching and learning theories/strategies; development and maintenance of effective learning environment; assessment of individual/group learning needs, planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching/learning interventions for students/clients/carers; mentoring models/support systems; assessment of learning; giving and receiving feedback; research awareness; reflection; group dynamics; informed choice; decision making, evidence based practice; research awareness and application.
3. Entry Requirements
This course is open to health professionals registered on the midwifery part of the NMC register with access to clinical practice.
