Bachelor of Nursing Graduate Entry

1. Overview

Bachelor of Nursing - Adult (Graduate Entry)

This is a two year full-time programme leading to registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

The focus of the programme is to develop you personally and professionally, enabling you to become a confident and capable graduate who is equipped to practise effectively as a registered nurse in environments that are constantly changing.

The School of Nursing & Midwifery offers recognition of prior learning (RPL). The purpose of the recognition is to enable you to gain credit for learning outside the formal system of education and training. All our graduate route students engage with RPL as part of the application process.

For further information, visit www.rgu.ac.uk/rpl

2. How you will learn

This is a two year full-time programme.

3. Entry requirements

This graduate entry route has been developed to enable graduates who have successfully completed a relevant degree advanced entry to year 2 of the Adult Nursing course (therefore missing out the foundation year).

Graduate route applicants will engage with the School of Nursing and Midwifery Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. The purpose of this process is to enable recognition of prior relevant learning in, for example, health or science related subjects. For further information, visit www.rgu.ac.uk/rpl.

* All entry requirements listed here should be used as a guide and represent the minimum required to be considered for entry. Applicants who are made a conditional offer of a place may be asked to achieve more than is stated.

4. Placements and accreditations

Placement

During these programmes you will have practice placements in a variety of settings throughout Grampian, and may include Moray, Inverness, Orkney and Shetland. These placements will include non-NHS health care settings as well as those in NHS and community sectors.

Study Abroad

Our third year student nurses have an opportunity to apply for a three-month European Exchange with one of the School's European Partners in Belgium, Finland, Norway or Spain.

Professional Accreditation

Graduates are eligible to register as an Adult Nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Council Professional Register.

5. Student Funding

Funding is provided by a non means-tested Nursing and Midwifery Student Bursary Scheme. Students should apply to SAAS for this. You can find more information on the Finance pages of the website.

6. How to apply

All applicants for Nursing and Midwifery courses should be made via UCAS for entry to the course.

All applicants to Robert Gordon University must apply online at www.ucas.com/apply.

  • Code UCAS 3010 (Adult)

It is important that you keep track of your application process using the UCAS website, as it will update you on whether you have been offered a place from the University. It is also where you should respond to offers and receive confirmation of your place within your chosen course, rather than contacting the institution in the first instance.
