International Student Scholarships
A wide range of scholarships are available to international students, find out if you are eligible for support.
RGU offers scholarships to International students and full fee paying students from the rest of the United Kingdom outside Scotland.
Robert Gordon University welcomes international students who are funded or sponsored by various sponsoring governments, ministries and other organisations. If you are seeking financial assistance to study in the UK, you may wish to discuss this with the Ministry of Education in your home country, who may be able to advise you on your own government’s support programmes for study overseas.
The British Council in your country will also be able to advise you of any other UK scholarship programmes for which you may be eligible.
The following are some country specific sources of funding:
The SOCAR scholarship programme is an initiative of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic to generously fund Azeri students to study abroad at top universities.
Both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Engineering are funded at the discretion of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic).
The SOCAR scholarship and training department in Baku manages the programme on behalf of the company.

Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
OSAP is a mix of grants and loans for students to help pay for a college or university education.
The OSAP offers two kinds of money:
- grants: money you don’t have to pay back
- a student loan you need to repay
Both the Ontario government and federal government provide this money.
All you need to do is fill out the online or paper application for a full-time or part-time student. OSAP will automatically consider you for the following loan and grant programs.

A number of opportunities are available to Ghanaian students
Ghana Education Trust (GET) Fund Mission
To support the delivery of quality education to the citizens of Ghana from the basic to tertiary level through dynamic funding policies aimed at ensuring equitable provision of essential resources for all levels of education to all segments of the Ghanaian population.
GNPC Oil and Gas Learning Foundation
To give better institutional focus to GNPC’s role to building national capacity in oil and gas sciences, policy, management and operations in order to achieve national “local content” aspirations.
The British Council offers several scholarships of £10,000 each to Indian students for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in the areas of Architecture, Engineering, Computing and Pharmacy/Life Sciences.
Note: You must hold a conditional offer to study with RGU before you apply for the scholarship
The Bolashak scholarship programme is an initiative of the Kazakh Government to generously fund hundreds of bright young Kazakhs to study abroad at top universities.
Both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in priority subjects are funded at the discretion of the Government.
The Centre for International Programmes (CIP) in Astana manages the programme on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Education.
Robert Gordon University is pleased to welcome several Bolashak scholars to Aberdeen each year. You may apply through the Centre for International Programmes in one of two ways: you may either ask the CIP to locate a university place for you, or you may obtain an offer of admission to a university and then apply for the Bolashak funding. Our students tend to choose the second option, as this can speed up the process of obtaining a scholarship.
CONACyT and Secretariat of Energy in Mexico (SENER)
In early 2016 RGU signed an agreement with CONACyT-SENER and is now one of just 25 recognised institutions endorsed by CONACyT-SENER for energy-related scholarships in the UK.

Petroleum Training and Education Fund
The Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND) was formed in 1993 in order to offer training in fields of science and information technology through scholarships and support education institution building. The objectives of the Petrofund are as follows:
- Provide bursaries for tertiary studies in the fields of engineering, science and technology to pave the way for Namibians to fill employment positions currently filled by non-Namibians
- Foster awareness of and promote knowledge of natural sciences, mathematics, engineering and technology and other oil and gas related fields over a broad spectrum of population by exposing them to selected promotional activities in the relevant fields
- Enhance education and training in natural science, mathematics, engineering and technology in Namibia by improving the quality of teaching staff in these subjects at secondary school.

US Federal Direct Loan
Saltire Scholarship - Canada, China, India, Pakistan and USA
The British Council and Scottish Government offer the Saltire Scholarships scheme.
In 2008, the British Council and Scottish Government announced the introduction of Saltire Scholarships.
The scheme offers 100 awards to students applying from: Canada, China, India, USA and Pakistan each worth £4,000. These are towards the tuition fees for any one year of full time study on an Undergraduate, Master's or PhD course.
Please note that Saltire Scholarship cannot be combined with RGU Scholarships.
