Postgraduate students will normally make their own arrangements for payment of fees. However, there are a limited number of funded places on postgraduate courses.

The Postgraduate Students Allowance Scheme (PSAS) which is run by Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS), is set to change for applicants entering the University in academic year 2012/13.

Eligible (Scottish domiciled and EU) full-time or part-time students who have accepted a postgraduate place on a course eligible for a postgraduate loan can apply directly to the SAAS for a loan to cover up to £3,400 towards their tuition fees.  The application form will be available to download from April 2012.  You should monitor the SAAS website for updates.

Students enter into an agreement based on the terms and conditions of the Income Contingent Repayment Loan.  Repayment is directly linked to income, through the income tax system, ensuring that monthly repayments are affordable.  If a borrower earns less than the repayment threshold, which is currently £15,000 per year (£15,795 from April 2012), then they are not required to repay any of their outstanding loan balance.  Only when a borrower earns above the £15,000 threshold are they then required to repay 9% of the amount earned in excess of the threshold.  If income falls below £15,000 or the borrower becomes unemployed, they are not required to make any repayments.

There are a range of scholarships available to postgraduate students, including our Merit Scholarships. Information about these and how to apply for them can be found under Scholarships and in the relevant section in Areas of Study.

Information about paying your fees can be found in How to Pay.

10% Alumni Loyalty Discount

The Robert Gordon University is delighted to offer our alumni a 10% loyalty discount on postgraduate course fees.

How do you claim your discount?

When applying for your postgraduate course, the application form will ask if you completed your undergraduate degree at the Robert Gordon University. Once we have checked and confirmed your undergraduate degree, we will then reduce your fees by the appropriate amount.

Terms and conditions

The discount applies to both home and overseas alumni (holders of undergraduate degrees) of the Robert Gordon University who commence postgraduate study at the University from September 2010 onwards. It can only be applied to tuition fees and cannot be used to cover any other programme-related expenses (e.g. residential costs, materials or membership fees). The discount will apply to all courses (including short courses) apart from the MSc in Advanced Architectural Studies. Please note:  this is not applicable to Research Degrees.
