Before you begin, make sure you know the name of the course you are applying for.

We recommend you have copies of the following documents to hand:

Certificates and/or transcripts for qualifications you have completed
Curriculum Vitae (CV)/Resumé
Any letter of reference you may have
Copy of the details page of your passport (non-EU applicants applying for full time study)

How to apply for postgraduate courses

Applications for most Postgraduate courses are made direct to the University.

For postgraduate, distance learning and short courses deadlines are agreed for individual courses.

If your application is submitted late the University reserves the right to reject your application, however we will do our best to consider it.

Late applicants may find they have access to a reduced number of courses and University accommodation may not be available.

International applicants can choose to apply online or using our application form.

Documents

We ask you to upload documents in support of your application. Before beginning to complete the online application form, you will need to have your documents to hand. (Please note, the file cannot exceed 500 KB in size and should be in .doc, .wpd, .rtf, .xls, .pdf, .docx, .xlsx or .txt format)

These may include:

  • School qualifications
  • University or College qualifications
  • English Language qualifications
  • CV with details of relevant employment experience
  • References
  • A copy of the photograph page of your passport

All international transcripts should be translated into English, with the translations also certified as accurate.

We recognise:

  • Higher education institutions
  • Legal representatives (such as
  • solicitors or public notaries)
  • The British Council

You will be required to show original copies of documents at enrolment.

Remember

Academic criteria are not the only factors we take into account when assessing your application. We look for personal qualities, maturity, relevant experience, an awareness of the course and how it fits in with any proposed career path.

Your online application allows you to save and return to your application as often as you need to, so take some time to think about what you writing, particularly your personal statement.

Don't forget, if you submit a complete application (with all the necessary supporting documents) it allows us to be able to make a decision on your application much quicker than if we need to contact you to ask for further information.

Deadlines are agreed for individual courses. Make sure you apply in time to be sure of your chance of a place.

After I apply for postgraduates courses

The University operates a centralised admissions service and all postgraduate applications are submitted to the Admissions Office. All applications are then checked to ensure they are complete and ready to be assessed by an Admissions Adviser.

During the assessment applications are checked for Fee Status, Criminal Conviction declaration and Disability declaration. In all instances further information will be requested from the applicant in line with Data Protection and Freedom of Information Policies (see policies and procedures).

How long will my application take to get processed?


  • We will acknowledge your application within 5 working days. If the application provides all the information needed for us to make a decision, we will be able to make that decision within 5 working days. Applications for advanced entry to portfolio assessment will take longer.

  • Please understand that this timeframe alters depending on the course you are applying for and also the time of year that you apply.

  • If you have any queries about your application, we are happy to answer these over the phone or through email.

  • If you have applied online, we will start to process your application as soon as we have received all of the supporting documents that are required.

  • Once we have made a decision we will send you an email confirming this.

  • If you have been successful in your application, you will be able to follow a link from this email to your Offer Letter.

Decisions on the academic entry requirements are made centrally for the majority of courses.

Paper and electronic application records are held securely by the Admissions Office and access is restricted to those involved in the admissions process.

Appeals, feedback and complaints

The University is committed to providing feedback, when requested, to any applicant whose application has been unsuccessful.

Feedback will be given to enable applicants to reflect on their progress through the application process and does not constitute a reconsideration of an application or a challenge to the University's decision on an application.

To ensure the continued currency of its courses and modules the University addresses the requirements of external advisors and associated professional, statutory or regulatory bodies, and implements changes to content and/or structure.

The University has taken every care to be as accurate as possible. However, the information must be read as subject to change and you are recommended to review the website on a regular basis.

Courses

The University makes reasonable endeavours to inform applicants and students at the earliest opportunity of any significant changes to, or suspension/cessation of, a course, particularly when this occurs between the offer of admission and enrolment.

Significant changes may include (but are not limited to) changes to:

  • an existing course title or named exit awards;
  • the course curriculum/modules (e.g. replacement of core and/or optional modules);
  • the course structure (e.g. addition of a placement year, changes in clinical hours, changes related to professional, statutory or regulatory body accreditation);
  • additions/changes to mode(s) of delivery;
  • methods of assessment;
  • suspension or cessation of a course.

Reasonable efforts will be made to assist applicants find an alternative RGU course if the original is no longer suitable.

The modules quoted are currently available for study. However, as we review the curriculum on a regular basis, the exact selection may change over time.
