LGBT History Month takes place every February and aims to promote equality and diversity by increasing the visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (“LGBT”) people.   It’s a chance to celebrate the lives and achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people from our past and present.

LGBT Youth Scotland - History Month

The RGU LGBT+ Staff Network is organising the following events: 

LGBT+ History Month Exhibition

For the month of February the RGU Library will display an exhibition that will showcase the range of LGBT+ resources that are available on loan.

RGU Rainbow Film Night: Carol (2015)

The RGU Rainbow Film Night for February is Carol.   This film is an adaptation of the novel “The Price of Salt” by Patricia Highsmith.  Nominated for 6 Oscars, this movie portrays an authentic view of a relationship between two women in 1950s New York.

LGBT+ Equality & Diversity around the World

The Language and Culture Network and the LGBT+ Staff Network will host a joint event to discuss different attitudes and cultural differences, both now and historically, towards LGBT.

LGBT+ Allies on Campus

The LGBT+ Staff Network will host an event for all LGBT+ staff, students and allies to meet, network and celebrate the diversity of the staff and students at RGU.

LGBT Youth Scotland - Purple Friday

The LGBT+ Staff Network will be encouraging all staff to wear purple in support of LGBT Youth Scotland’s campaign to take action and stand for equality and inclusion and make Scotland the best place for LGBTI young people to grow up.  Turn RGU Purple and tweet your pictures with the #EverydayHero #RGUPrideonCampus.
