Students in graduation gowns

Graduation

Gown Hire

What you should wear for your graduation and how to order.

You must wear full academic dress for the ceremony in order to gain access to the graduation auditorium.

This consists of a gown, hood and (in most cases) a cap. Academic dress is available for hire from Ede & Ravenscroft who are the University’s Official gown supplier. Graduation is a formal occasion and an appropriate standard of dress is required.

  • Dress option one – black or white dress or, blouse and skirt or trousers.
  • Dress option two – dark suit and white shirt
  • Dress option three – national dress (for example the kilt, with any style of jacket)

We reserve the right to refuse you entry to the ceremony if you are not dressed appropriately.

Ordering your gown

Orders for gown hire will open when you have received your invite to Graduate.
