Many organisations are now moving to converged communications networks, integrating voice and data services. This course will prepare you to become a professional network engineer; to build and operate these new networks.
Excellent employment opportunities exist in this rapidly changing global industry.
The course features extensive practical work based on building, configuring, testing and troubleshooting networks, based on the Cisco CCNA Exploration curriculum. As we are a Cisco Regional Networking Academy, successful completion of this course allows you to progress to Cisco Network Associate certification.
This course is available to study full-time or part-time. Part-time students can complete the course by attending daytime classes until the requisite modules have been passed (typically over a two year period).
The first two stages consist of taught modules. During this stage of the course you will attend a combination of lectures, tutorials and laboratory classes. In your final semester you will develop and carry out a project on an agreed topic, leading to an MSc thesis.

The normal entry qualification will be an honours degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering (lower second or higher). It is expected that your bachelor degree includes a good grounding in Analogue and Digital Telecommunications, Analogue and Digital Electronics, Digital Signal Processing and an introduction to Computer Programming.
All international students for whom English is not their first language must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by gaining either IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent in TOEFL prior to receiving an unconditional offer of a place on the course.
