Duncan graduated with a BSc (Pure Science) in 1982 and joined the Oilfield Service Company Schlumberger. Working in rig-based and field service management roles for 10 years, he developed expertise in drilling related services, such as Mud Logging, MWD, LWD and Directional Drilling. Duncan worked primarily on NW European offshore operations, but also spent time in Houston working on R&D projects. He then moved into Drilling Engineering based in Aberdeen, providing support for integrated service contracts with operators, eventually heading up the UK & Norway drilling engineering team.
He joined RGU in 2005 as programme development manager for drilling and well engineering, and subsequently became director for the oil & gas engineering discipline, encompassing all RGU's related activity. With the objective of 'bringing together the best of industry and academia', his intention is to ensure that students undertaking study at RGU in all oil & gas engineering related disciplines receive a challenging and rewarding experience, providing unrivalled knowledge and understanding, seasoned with valuable practical experiences. Thus enabling you to demonstrate the relevant skills required of very best engineers in this demanding industry.
Duncan is also Acting Drilling & Well Engineering Course Leader.
