Dr Catherine Paterson is a Lecturer in Adult Nursing with a clinical academic background in Uro-Oncology Cancer Care. Catherine has advanced clinical practice in the following areas:

  • Prostate assessment and transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy,
  • Fiducial gold seed placement under ultrasound guidance,
  • Advance nursing practice in providing follow-up care for patients and families affected by metastatic prostate cancer, including initiating therapies, evaluating response to therapy, initiating evidence-based supportive care interventions, including complex therapies, abiraterone and enzalutamide,
  • Prostate Cancer Pre-Habilitation,
  • Non-medical prescribing.

Academic Background

Catherine is a registered Adult Nurse, with a BA Nursing (Distinction), MSc Nursing (Distinction), Advanced Quantitative Methodology (Distinction), Master’s level Non-Medical Prescribing (Distinction) and PhD in Prostate Cancer Care. Her research interests include eHealth, Cancer Care, Patient Experience, Supportive Care, and Urological cancers. She has significant experience in the design and conduct of multi-site clinical trials and the development and evaluation of eHealth interventions.
