Duties and Responsibilities

Catriona Kennedy is Professor of Nursing in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Robert Gordon University. Her particular areas of responsibility are around building research capacity and capability with a particular focus on contributing to building a submission for REF 2020/21. This includes supervision of less experienced staff and post graduate students, building a portfolio of funded projects and high impact journal publications.

Research Interests

Catriona has expertise in a range of research methods but with a particular focus on qualitative methods. She has also completed a number of systematic reviews; including Cochrane systematic reviews which are considered as being the ‘Gold standard’ in research synthesis. Catriona has been involved in a range of studies with a particular focus around community nursing, long term conditions and end of life care.

External / Professional Roles

Catriona has recently returned to Scotland after working for several years at the University of Limerick in Ireland where she has connections with several Irish Universities and professional bodies. She is visiting Professor at the University of Karlstad in Sweden and External Examiner at the University of Ulster. Catriona is also linking to the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland in order to raise the profile of community focused research. She is also working with an International group of collaborators on a H2020 bid.
