Role and Background
Jack Keenan is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Communications, Marketing and Media where he is the Course Leader for MSc Digital Marketing and also a Learning Enhancement Coordinator. His interests are largely centred on the social, political and personal impacts of digital technologies. Jack brings over a decade’s experience of working with digital media, prior to working as a lecturer he worked in a number of related areas including web design and video production and worked with a number of companies and artistic / cultural organisations. In the past he has been responsible for running Scotlands first online TV station, funded by Scottish Screen, has spoken at a number of conferences on topics related to digital media, and curated a number of exhibitions and events, including an exhibition in partnership with Aberdeen University which resulted in the publication 'Recoded – The Politics and Landscape of New Media’, he also developed OpenKnowledge Networks, a successful series of networking events for digital media practitioners.
He studied Corporate Communications as an undergraduate followed by an MSc in Electronic Information Management, he is currently studying for a PhD which focuses on the impact of online networks on contemporary political discourse.
In addition to his role as Course Leader, Jack also teaches on Scotland’s first Masters in Digital Marketing where he is the module co-ordinator for Digital Production Tools and Techniques and Methods, Metrics and Analytics . He also teaches a number of modules at undergraduate level including, Introduction to Web Design, Digital Media Platforms and Practices, Interactive Media Project and Documentary Discourse and Practice.
