Dr. Wood is currently a Research Fellow in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is interested in research concerning health, wellbeing and learning and - in particular - that which concerns children. She has experience in the application of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, with her design background allowing her to visualise and share data gathered in new and unexpected ways.
Research / Scholarship interests
Visualising the Invisible: Developing innovative approaches to
visualisation to help NHS staff prevent and control healthcare associated
infection.

Natural Design and Outdoor
Learning
Fiona is inspired by research surrounding children and young people,
with a particular interest in children’s development, learning and play. Central
to this research is the potential for children to improve their learning and
wellbeing through outdoor play. This innovative approach has won awards from
the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.
