Key research interests

Dr Cruickshank's research interests include how changes in oxygen tension affect vascular function in the pulmonary circulation, particularly oxygen sensitivity in myocytes, and how blood vessel environments are likely to impacted by vascular function. His research skills include whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology, Epifluorescent microscopy, Small vessel wire myography. Specific interests include:

  • Vascular smooth muscle physiology
  • Pulmonary vein physiology
  • [Ca2+]i regulation
  • Ion channel function


Teaching

Dr Cruickshank is a Lecturer in Pharmacology and is module coordinator for Integrated Physiology and Principles of Pharmacology. He contributes to various modules, including Advanced Sciences in Professional Practice, Pharmaceutical Biology, Integrated Physiology and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics 1.
