Transport Information

There are many ways that you can get to the Robert Gordon University campuses.

Outside the schoolhill buildingEach of our campuses is well served by a number of bus routes, and Aberdeen is easily accessible by air and train.

Excellent public transport links and easily accessible campuses make it very easy for you to find us.

 

Bus Service

Each of our campuses are served by a number of bus routes.

First Aberdeen services 1, 2 and 9 operate between the City Centre and the Garthdee Campus.

Services 1 and 2 travel from the Bridge of Don to Garthdee and back, via Union Street, every 12 minutes.

Service 9 travels from the City Centre to Garthdee on a loop, with buses running every 10 minutes between 07:50 and 08:30, then hourly throughout the day.

Ticket options available to both staff and students:

• Pay the driver on the bus for a single fare or a day return (students must show ID card)
• Staff and students: a weekly/4 weekly/12 weekly pass can be bought in advance
• Students: an academic year ticket is available

Weekly/Monthly/3 Monthly tickets (all routes): buy from First Travel Centre, 47 Union Street, Aberdeen
(Monday to Saturday 08.45 - 17.30)
Weekly/4 Weekly/15 Weekly tickets for the 9 service only: buy from Infozone, University Street (under RGU: SPORT), Garthdee
(Monday to Friday 09.00 - 16.45)

Walking

The Walkit website gives a useful guide to getting from A to B by foot. It provides information on the quickest and quietest routes.

Cycling

Robert Gordon University has introduced several innovative and environmentally friendly travel schemes for the benefit of its students and staff to help reduce the number of cars on the roads.

We have improved existing facilities for cyclists, including security and changing facilities at each of the sites.

BikeFit

BikeFit is operated by Instant Neighbour, a local charity.

BikeFit will collect old bikes which are no longer needed, free of charge, then recondition them and sell them on at very reasonable prices, with the proceeds going to charity. Anyone can buy a bike from BikeFit and they have both adult and children's bikes available.

As well as reconditioning old bikes, they also provide a servicing and repair service which anyone can use. BikeFit employ trained mechanics so you can be assured that your bike will be checked properly.

Train

Our City Centre Campus is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Railway Station.

Walking directions from the station to Schoolhill campus
  • Exit the station via the steps across from the Station Hotel.
  • Cross Guild Street at the pedestrian crossing and turn to the left.
  • Enter the Mall Trinity, approximately 10 yards ahead.
  • Proceed straight through the Mall Trinity and exit on to Union Street.
  • Cross at the pedestrian crossing and proceed along Belmont Street to the end.
  • The entrance to Robert Gordon University is across the road, adjacent to Aberdeen Art Gallery.
Taxi from the station to Schoolhill

Takes between 5 - 10 minutes and costs approximately £5.

The Garthdee Campus

This is best accessed from the station by either taxi or bus.

Taxi will take approximately 15 minutes and will cost around £10.

Bus directions to Garthdee
  • Exit the station via the steps across from the Station Hotel.
  • Cross Guild Street at the pedestrian crossing and turn to the left.
  • Enter the Mall Trinity, approximately 10 yards ahead. Proceed straight through the Mall Trinity and exit on to Union Street.
  • Turn to the right and proceed to the first bus stop.
  • The  1, 2 or 9 buses will take you to Garthdee. The bus will take approximately 30 minutes and will cost £2.20

Air

Aberdeen Airport is 7 miles north of the City Centre. There are regular bus services from the airport to the city.
