IT Project Management

1. Overview

The IT Project Management short course will allow you to use the tools and techniques required to deliver successful IT projects on-time and within budget. Dates: 25 - 28 June 2012.

The Course is based on the Project Management Institute Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide (PMBOK) but provides an IT focus. The course can be used as a boot camp towards sitting the CAPM exam (PMI). The course covers why a Project Management framework is important and what it actually means. It covers the full range of PM concepts based on the PMBOK framework.

Who should attend: Project Managers, IT Team leaders, Business Analysts. Those new to running software development programme or seeking to refresh their knowledge of software project management.

2. What you will study

The aim is to prepare you to lead IT projects:

  • Become familiar with the vocabulary and concepts contained in the PMBOK
  • Practice many Project Manager techniques and tools
  • Develop skills for planning and tracking software projects
  • Learn how to build and manage a project team
  • Learn techniques to help you to pass the CAPM exam (if required)

3. How you will learn

Lecture delivery of the PMBOK concepts will be supplemented with test practice and short practical exercises.
