8. Prospects

This course will enable you to work within any organisation with a significant dependency on IT, ranging from SMEs to large multinational corporations and public sector organisations. Target roles would be project manager, business analyst, IT service manager, development manager, PMO manager, IT manager, and chief information officer.

9. Assessment

Assessment for the course is done using reports and presentations of varying levels and degrees of complexity. Usually, each module will have an early assessment to allow students to get some quick feedback on what is expected of them. This is followed by a larger submission at the end of each module. For online distance learners, students will be required to send an audio file of their presentation to their course leader, or present their work “live” via webex-type technology. Activities are designed to be relevant to “real life” working situations, and for online distance learners these will often be orientated to their own working environment.

With our Online Distance Learning mode you will have the continued support of a course leader to guide you through your studies. The course leader for MSc IT Management is Dave McKay.

Dave has 35 years’ experience working in the IT industry. He started as a graduate programmer and worked in a variety of industries for over 10 years, before spending 22 years working for a global Oil & Gas Service company. During this time he led several large-scale software development projects and major outsourcing projects, rising to become CIO (Director of IT) during his final three years with the company. After retiring (in 2009), to step off the treadmill of 10 years of constant travelling, Dave joined RGU as a lecturer on, and more recently Course Leader for, the Masters degree in IT Management.
