Master of Business Administration MBA

1. Overview

Aberdeen Business School is recognised nationally and internationally for its corporate and management education. Our School has had AMBA accreditation since 1999 and is one of only 40 of the UK's 120 Business Schools that have so far been accredited in all three modes of delivery.

The Aberdeen Business School MBA programme is available full-time, executive part-time or online via our distance-learning mode of delivery. Our three MBA streams include:

The MBA has been developed to ensure that it meets the highest international standards and is of direct relevance to the real world. One of the features of the programme is that each of our full-time MBA students is provided with a laptop (complete with wireless capability) for use throughout their studies, and it is theirs to keep on completion of the programme.

2. What you will study

You will study core modules and a choice of specialist modules. The final stage is the Consultancy Project stage which provides you with the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills, gained from the taught elements, in an applied business context.

3. Entry requirements

The MBA is a challenging Masters level programme demanding a combination of intellectual abilities and business experience.

To gain admission you will normally:

  • hold a first degree, at honours level in a top class banding
  • have at least three years full-time work experience at a professional level
  • where appropriate be able to demonstrate competence in written and oral English

All international students, for whom English is not their first language, must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by gaining either IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 570 (paper) or TOEFL 230 (computer) prior to receiving an unconditional offer of a place on the course.

4. Placements and accreditations

For students on the full-time course have a placement opportunity with a local business organisation at the project stage. In addition to enabling students to apply their knowledge in a practical context the placement can provide an opportunity to gain:

  • first hand experience of business practice and decision making in UK based companies
  • valuable insights into a different set of organisational and cultural values
  • a practical perspective on the challenges in the current business environment
  • a better understanding of career opportunities and prospects in the UK and European marketplace. 

The MBA is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) across all modes of delivery. AMBA is regarded as the international authority on the development of business leaders and the guardian of MBA quality standards. The Association plays a unique role in supporting business schools to develop business leaders and provides a network for MBAs, business schools and employers.

5. Student Funding

The Aberdeen Business School is able to offer a limited number of scholarships to assist exceptionally able students who wish to undertake its International MBA programme on a full-time or distance learning basis. Further details on enquiry.
