Painting (Intermediate)

1. Overview

A course of set projects designed to enhance and develop students' skills and technique in painting.

Students will experience a course programme designed to develop their skills through taught projects, including life-painting. Advice and tutoring in appropriate technique and media will be given. 

2. What you will study

Students will build upon their knowledge and understanding of drawing and painting through lectures/discussions, individual/group tuition and studio-based practice.

They will also be encouraged to keep a visual diary, reflecting their personal practice and individual interests including the work of other artists. This is intended to become a personal journal of their development during the course.

3. Entry Requirements

This course is recommended for those who have completed the Foundation Painting course or who have equivalent experience.

All students are required to be at least 16 years of age on the first day of the course.

RGU Registration

All students should be aware that when registering as a student at RGU they are accepting a contract of enrolment. (In order to attend short courses all students must register and accept RGU's conditions).

Withdrawals

Please inform Gray’s School of Art if you are withdrawing your course. Any student absent for more than 4 weeks consecutively will be contacted by the school. Should no explanation of absence be given, RGU will withdraw you from the course.

Refunds

A refund is only applicable where there has been at least 4 weeks illness and a medical certificate to support it.

5. Additional information

Students must provide their own drawing and painting materials.

A suggested materials list will be issued with booking confirmation.

Studio equipment: easels, trestles, and drawing-boards will be provided. Paper for exhibiting purposes will be provided in week 16. A life model is provided during the course.

A complete health and safety induction will take place on commencement of the course.
