Introduction to Laser Cut Paper Card Design at MAKE (Foundation | EXTRA)
On this course students will have the opportunity to create their own custom pop-up card design using cutting edge computer graphic & laser technology.
This workshop will introduce students to 2D line drawing for laser cutting a card design.
2. What you will study
Starting with your own hand drawn sketch, photograph or working with custom templates you will be shown how to translate your ideas using digital drawing software, into intricate 2D or 3D pop-up paper art or designs.
This course will discuss the possibilities of designing and making colourful handcrafted pop-up cards and more complex pop-up paper sculptures that could be made for family, friends, a special occasion or even for a completely new enterprise or business idea.
3. Entry Requirements
This course provides an excellent introduction for beginners. There are no formal entry requirements.
All students are required to be at least 16 years of age on the commencement of course.

MAKE is a Aberdeen's first digital fabrication studio. It hosts a wide range of equipment that can help to turn your ideas into a reality. This is a fantastic creative opportunity for students to access laser cutting, Rapid Prototyping, digital tools, and design software.
MAKE aberdeen is hosted by RGU and supported by Aberdeen City Council, Creative Scotland and the UK Government Super Connected Cities programme.
6. Additional information
Students should bring some line drawings or photos to work from.
All equipment provided by MAKE Aberdeen.
Paper for student design outcomes will be provided.
A complete health and safety induction will take place on commencement of the course.
Please note: due to it's location, there is no RGU onsite parking available for this course.
