Computing Placements: For employers

The placement experience can be equally rewarding for employers as it is for students. The underlying concept behind the placement is to develop students to their full potential.

Placements are paid and although it is up to the employer and student to negotiate rate of pay, the Placement Office issues a guide of £6 - £7.50/hour or £11,000 - £16,000/year. As an employee of your company the student is covered by your insurance policies and as such is required to adhere to all policies and procedures in place within the company.

The Placement Office will send out a selection of CVs for a potential placement host to review. Thereafter the process follows the normal application and interview process implemented by the prospective employer. Interviews can be organised on your behalf if required.

“Employers often refer to the placement experience as a 'win-win situation'. The benefits to students are self-evident. For organisations, the contribution made by these highly motivated and adaptable team members can prove invaluable.”

Val Cheetham Placement Office Manager

“We are finding these placements extremely beneficial, as we are able to build up a relationship with students who, on graduating, become prospective employees, giving us access to the cream of the crop.”
