The placement experience can be equally rewarding for employers as it is for students. The underlying concept behind the placement is to develop students to their full potential.

Placements are paid and although it is up to the employer and student to negotiate rate of pay, the Placement Office issues a guide of £6 - £7.50/hour or £11,000 - £16,000/year. As an employee of your company the student is covered by your insurance policies and as such is required to adhere to all policies and procedures in place within the company.

The Placement Office will send out a selection of CVs for a potential placement host to review. Thereafter the process follows the normal application and interview process implemented by the prospective employer. Interviews can be organised on your behalf if required.

The following undergraduate course offers a one year placement during year 3:

• Computer Science BSc (Hons)

For the following undergraduate courses, there is an optional 16 week placement during the summer between years 2 and 3.

• Information Systems Technology BSc (Hons)
