Art & Design: Postgraduate Taught Full-time

The School is currently developing new, taught Masters programmes.

These new taught Masters models in ‘contextualised practice’ are aimed at equipping graduates with skills to work in specific sectors and organisations. A number of external partners in education, health organisations, enterprise and arts organisations have expressed interest in becoming delivery and placement partners. Discussions with regional and national arts and creative agencies are also informing the development of the courses.

Students on the new courses will be able to tailor the content of their programme of study to match their personal career aspirations and develop the notion of ‘self as practitioner, portfolio and professional’, rather than merely enhancing their subject-specific practice. Students will enhance their practice within a wider professional context and specific personal focus, in order to build their CVs and experience, whilst accruing a Masters Award.

Gray’s is a vibrant Art School with a long-established record of developing creative practitioners who have a real impact on both our regional and international economies. Our graduates work in a thriving urban/rural creative industries economy, which employs over 9,000 people and is valued at £2.2 billion to the regional economy.

The new Masters courses will suit students who either wish to find their professional place within this regional economy, or export their skills into similar national and international contexts. It is intended to launch these innovative, new courses in September 2013.
